During the visit of Pope Saint John Paul II in Rwanda in September 1990; he had wished that one day, there may be found the Blessed and Saints among the Christian couples in Rwanda.

After 25 years of his visit, the Church in Rwanda begins the first process towards the beatification and canonization of a couple of Christians in this country, namely Cyprien Rugamba and Daphrose Mukansanga. Indeed, on 18th September 2015, the opening ceremonies for the cause of their beatification and canonization took place in Saint-Michel Cathedral in Kigali in Rwanda. On this occasion an ad hoc Diocesan tribunal for the cause was put in place. The ceremonies began with a solemn Mass presided over by the Archbishop of Kigali, Monsignor Thaddeus Ntihinyurwa. The other Catholic bishops of Rwanda concelebrated together with many priests of the Archdiocese of Kigali in the presence of a big gathering of Christians including the members of the Community of Emmanuel. During this Mass, the Archbishop prayed asking the Lord Jesus Christ to welcome home the Rwandans who believed in him, to show a sign that Cyprian and Daphrose were welcomed to heaven and finally give the Catholic Church in Rwanda the foresight in this endeavour.

After reading the decree launching the investigation on the lives of the concerned, Archbishop Thaddeus Ntihinyurwa established the tribunal through the appointment of its members and their respective tasks.

Now Cyprien Rugamba and Daphrose Mukansanga are the Servants of God.

In their prayers, Christians can invoke them asking for their intercession to God. They can also ask God for a sign manifesting their presence with Him.

Are these first Servants of God in Rwanda possibly the fruits of the apparitions of the Mother of the Word at Kibeho?!
